In the world of automotive excellence, the Porsche 911 GT3 with Touring Package stands as a true testament to the intersection of engineering and artistry.
Attending the Goodwood Festival of Speed as media guests of Porsche in July, we were treated to an array of exhilarating activities, including several test drives on the beautiful country roads around Goodwood in an array of the latest and most sought-after Porsches, all of them sporting a manual gearbox. Apart from the new GT3 RS, which is even more powerful and potent than I could have imagined, the GT3 Touring stole my heart. This may well be the most ‘complete’ Porsche ever, ticking every conceivable box, from styling to comfort, and brutal power delivery to dynamic handling.
IMPECCABLE STYLE
The lineage of the Touring Package can be traced back to the 911 Carrera RS from 1973, a nod to the timeless design and traditional finishes that have become synonymous with Porsche’s legacy. The rear lid grille proudly bearing the logo “GT3 touring” speaks to the heart of this car – a high-revving 4.0-litre engine that’s as much a work of art as an engineering marvel.
While the GT3 with Touring Package shares much of the performance DNA of its GT3 sibling, the absence of the distinctive fixed rear wing is the most conspicuous departure. However, Porsche’s engineering magic ensures that necessary downforce is maintained at high speeds through the presence of an automatically extending rear spoiler. Exuding a subtle confidence that belies the raw power within, the clean silhouette of the Touring Package stands as a testament to the car’s dedication to road driving, a departure from its more extroverted cousin.

With a kerb weight of 1,418 kg, the GT3 with Touring Package doesn’t just promise benchmark performance – it delivers it. The experience behind the wheel is a harmonious blend of power and grace, combining lightning-quick acceleration and gravity-defying handling. The option to equip the seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission without extra cost adds a layer of versatility to this driving marvel.

The black leather-trimmed steering wheel, gear shift lever, and centre console cover exude a classic sports car ambience. The door panels’ armrests and handles and the partial leather interior adorned with black stitching create an environment where performance meets refinement. The cabin is a testament to Porsche’s commitment to crafting an experience that’s as luxurious as it is sporty.
As the day drew to a close, I couldn’t help but appreciate the opportunity to experience the new Porsche 911 GT3 with Touring Package firsthand. Its legacy of performance, precision, and passion is palpable.
