AN ELECTRIFIED STREAMLINER

Hyundai launched the eagerly awaited Ionic 6 Electrified Streamliner last month. Featuring an array of advanced technologies, personalised space and features, and offering extended range, the Ioniq 6 is arguably the first all-electric D-segment family sedan from a legacy automaker to match the Tesla Model 3 in terms of range and advanced technologies.

Available with a range of drive motors and battery packs, the long-range 77.4 kWh battery can be paired with two drivetrain layouts; either rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD). The top-of-the-line AWD option with dual motor configuration produces a combined power output of 239 kW and 605 Nm of torque for a zero to 100 km/h sprint in 5.1 seconds.

Optimised for range, the RWD option, fitted with a moderately smaller 75 kWh battery paired with a single eclectic motor on the rear axle, delivers an astonishing all-electric range of 610 km (WLTP), which is marginally more than the 602 km achieved by the Tesla Model 3 Long Range. Courtesy of Hyundai’s E-GMP architecture, ultra-fast charging is facilitated by either 400-V or 800-V multi-charging capability.

Fitted with the smaller 53 kWh standard battery with an 18″ tyre and RWD motor option, the energy consumption is estimated to be under 14 kWh/100 km (WLTP), making the Ioniq 6 one of the most energy-efficient vehicles currently in the market.

In addition, the Ioniq 6 boasts an array of high-tech features, including Dual Colour Ambient Lighting, Speed Sync Lighting, EV Performance Tune-up, Electric Active Sound Design (e-ASD), vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, and Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates, all of which enhance the electric mobility experience.
