JLR’S GROUNDBREAKING RENEWABLE ENERGY PLAN

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is ushering in a new era of sustainability with its ambitious renewable energy projects in the UK. These innovative initiatives aim to generate over a quarter of the company’s UK electricity needs, marking a significant leap towards a greener future.

Part of JLR’s global renewables strategy, these projects will contribute to the company’s goal of increasing self-generated energy to 36.4% of its global consumption by 2030. The plan includes harnessing solar power through a mix of rooftop and ground-mounted panels, as well as solar carports strategically placed across key manufacturing and non-production sites in the UK.

The impact is staggering: these projects will produce almost 120 Megawatts (MW) of renewable energy at their peak, equivalent to powering nearly 44,500 homes or charging 2.7 million Jaguar I-PACE batteries annually. The initiative not only slashes energy bills and reduces reliance on grid energy but also enhances the company’s resilience to energy supply issues and reduces exposure to market volatility.

Work is already underway on the first three solar projects, with completion slated for the end of 2026. Notably, the Gaydon headquarters will see the installation of an 18.2 MW ground-mounted solar array, providing the facility with around 40% of its energy needs.
