Gran Turismo gamers will be among the firsts to take Toyota’s highly-anticipated Supra for a whirl around the virtual race tracks of the world.
Toyota caused quite the stir when it revealed the Supra Racing Concept at last month’s Geneva International Motor Show. Now, a virtual variation of this concept has made its debut on Gran Turismo Sport that is exclusively available to PlayStation 4 gaming consoles.
Toyota’s sportiest concept retains its predecessor’s DNA with the same front-engine and rear-wheel-drive configuration. This also means that it conforms to Grand Touring Endurance regulations, which is a mainstay feature of the Gran Turismo video game series.
Dimensions and features for the virtual racer were also carefully modelled after the Supra that made its Geneva debut, with undoubtedly similar handling and performance characteristics.
Developed by Polyphonic Digital, the Gran Turismo franchise is no stranger to adding virtual concepts to the extensive line-up of vehicles gamers can choose from. And now, the newest Supra will join an extensive list of legendary Toyota vehicles that have put gamers in the virtual driving seat. This includes the Toyota 2000GT, the TS050 Hybrid Le Mans racer and of course, the Supra A80 — the predecessor to the newly unveiled model.
According to Toyota, the Supra Concept is the clearest indication of what the highly anticipated sports car will ultimately look like.
