ROAD LEGAL XX

Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale and Spider

Ferrari recently unveiled a new special limited series SF90 XX Stradale, alongside its SF90 XX Spider counterpart equipped with Maranello’s acclaimed Retractable Hard Top (RHT) at the Fiorano racetrack. To be built in just 799 and 599 examples, respectively, these new V8-powered PHEVs based on the SF90 Stradale are also the first roadgoing cars in the XX Programme.

The pair represent the latest and most extreme example of special versions, such as the 488 Pista and 812 Competizione, developed to push the performance of Ferrari’s production models to new levels.

The already impressive, exhilarating track and on-the-limit driving experience of the SF90 Stradale is raised to new heights in the SF90 XX Stradale with a performance boost for the F154FB 3,990 cc twin-turbo V8 engine (integrated with three electric motors and a 7.9 kWh battery supplying 171 kW of power) to deliver 586 kW at 7,900 rpm – 22 kW more than in the SF90 Stradale – and maximum torque of 804 Nm at 6,250 rpm.

With this type of power from the bespoke PHEV drivetrain and the patented extra boost vehicle dynamics logic – an absolute first on a road car from Ferrari – the SF90 XX Stradale can do 320 km/h and blitzes from zero to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds, and 200 km/h in a blistering 6.5 seconds. In full-electric mode, it has a guaranteed range of 25 km and can reach a maximum speed of 135 km/h.

The duo’s driving dynamics are further enhanced by specific software logics and the use of radical new aerodynamics solutions, including a fixed rear spoiler – the first to appear on a roadgoing Ferrari since the days of the F50 – that delivers an unparalleled 530 kg of downforce at 250 km/h. The engine’s soundtrack was also redesigned to produce an even fuller, richer sound and become the ultimate encapsulation of the car’s racing soul.

The SF90 XX Spider benefits from the same architecture – derived from the brand new 196 GT3 – extreme design elements, sophisticated aero solutions as the SF90 XX Stradale, and specifically developed airflow in the cockpit to guarantee occupant comfort with the top down. The RHT, comprising aluminium panels, can be deployed or retracted in a mere 14 seconds and activated at speeds of up to 45 km/h.

QUARTERMASTER REVEALED

INEOS Grenadier Double-Cab

It just had to come, and now it has been revealed by INEOS Automotive in spectacular fashion at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed. Stamping its mark on the first day of this year’s event, the new Grenadier Quartermaster double cab, the second model in the INEOS Automotive line-up, made its global debut with a celebratory stunt in front of an appreciative crowd.

To celebrate Britain’s rich motor racing heritage, with Belstaff’s iconic Trialmaster jacket celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, just as Goodwood celebrates 75 years of motorsport, Belstaff and INEOS Automotive gathered 75 historic and modern off-road motorbikes to tackle the famous hill climb, and the cavalcade of bikes was spearheaded by the Grenadier Quartermaster.

Developed and built in Hambach, Germany, alongside the Grenadier Station Wagon, the new double cab pick-up INEOS Automotive maintains the new Grenadier Quartermaster will deliver the same uncompromising off-road capability and dependability as its stablemate, while it shares most of its architecture and components with the Station Wagon, its box-section ladder frame chassis is 305 mm longer.

This results in a large and versatile load bay (1,564 mm long and 1,619 mm wide), large enough to easily carry a standard 1,200 mm x 800 mm Euro pallet. With a payload of 760 kg, the same 3,500 kg towing capacity as the Station Wagon, and a wide range of accessories, the Quartermaster can carry five people and the bulkiest loads. Its versatility is assured by four tie-down rings in the load space, a 400 W power take-off, an integrated mounting bar and a wide tailgate that can support up to 225 kg when open.

Like the Station Wagon, the pick-up is powered by BMW 3.0-litre turbo-charged in-line six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines coupled with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. A centre differential lock and a two-speed transfer case are fitted as standard (front and rear diff locks are optional). The Grenadier Quartermaster also rides on the same heavy-duty five-link front and rear suspension, and is fitted with Carraro-supplied solid beam axles, Brembo brakes and a recirculating ball steering system.

The Quartermaster has 264 mm of ground clearance, an 800 mm wading depth and approach, breakover, and departure angles unrivalled by any other series production pick-up. The model line-up mirrors that of the Station with standard, Trialmaster and Fieldmaster trim, and it will be available with a wide range of tailored accessories.

To date, over 5,000 Grenadiers have rolled out of the Hambach production facility and by the end of the year, it is anticipated that INEOS Automotive will have shipped over 15,000 vehicles. This will be achieved by adding a second shift at the plant from next month, doubling the production rate.

ELECTRIFYING DOLCE VITA

New Fiat Topolino

Fiat continues its mission to develop sustainable mobility for the cities and turn them into relaxing playgrounds where driving becomes an easy and sustainable experience accessible to all. Such an objective becomes a reality thanks to the new Fiat Topolino, a joyful and cool new electric car for everyone, for families and even the youngest, since the minimum age to drive it – depending on the market – is 14 years old.

Topolino is an ideal solution for urban and short-range mobility, able to access anywhere thanks to its electric nature. A homage to the brand’s history and ability to innovate with likability and coolness, it perfectly embodies the New Dolce Vita style and pure Italian beauty.

With unique accessories, and the ability to drive it from age 14 and up, the New Fiat Topolino also embraces a new target audience.

In addition, it perfectly embodies FIAT’s commitment to sustainability: thanks to its electric nature, it provides a reduced carbon footprint and reduced sound footprint, respecting the sustainability of urban centres. Its small size does not impact traffic; on the contrary, it makes the Topolino the perfect urban mobility device.

The Fiat Topolino is the 500’s little sister, taking its name and design from the original 500, affectionately called ‘Topolino’ because of its small size, enlarging the family and consolidating the leadership in urban sustainable mobility. Like that of its predecessor, its style is driven by a powerful simplicity, a design that revolves around ‘less is more’, and that heals simplicity as the best companion to its beauty.

Freedom is the Topolino’s key attribute, as it can be shared with your loved ones, driven everywhere and in any weather conditions, and then parked wherever you want. Compared to a scooter, it represents an infinite range of possibilities.

The line-up consists of two different bodies, one closed and one open, both consistent in their structural characteristics: one colour, Verde Vita, one wheel design and one aesthetic approach for the interior. Thanks to its petite size compared to a standard car (2.53 meters long), ease of handling, and a safe top speed of 45 km/h, Topolino reignites the desire to travel the roads stress-free. Both models feature excellent electric capability due to a 5.4 kWh battery that offers up to 75 km of range and will charge to full in less than four hours – more than you need for your seaside days or daily rush in the city centres.
